What are the Disney World Genie+ Rides?

In this next section, we are going to outline the full Genie Plus ride list so you can see what will be included in your purchase. Each Disney World park offers most rides and attractions in the Genie plus service. This is great news however some rides may be more difficult to get a lightning lane for than others.

When you purchase Genie+ you are going to want to make the most of the purchase by riding all of the best rides in the parks. Some rides that are included in Genie+ aren’t necessarily rides that you will need to use a lightning lane for due to short wait times. The thing with Genie+ that makes some guests frustrated is that lightning lane’s can sell out for attractions on busy days. This means that even though you pay for the service, you might not be able to get a lightning lane for Slinky Dog Dash if you wait to book it. We will tell you the most popular Genie ride in each Disney World Park that you should make a priority. Another tip is to remember that popular rides that may sell out of lightning lanes may offer single rider lines. If you don’t mind the possibility of your group being split up on the ride, the singer rider lines can cut the wait time down significantly.

Can Genie+ Rides Sell Out?

Lightning lanes CAN sell out. Disney will put a limit on how many guests can ride an attraction per time slot so if you are visiting on a busy day. Genie+ rides are not guaranteed. The most popular rides can run out of available Genie+ Lightning Lane selections. Popular rides such as Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios can sell out as early as 10AM on busy days. Each park has a variety of rides and attractions that you can choose from so if one ride sells out, there is still a lot of other attractions you can take advantage of using Genie+ but this is why we think you should make a ride priority list to make sure you can get on the rides you want to make the most of your Genie+ purchase.

The photo above shows what a “sold out” attraction looks like on Genie+. The screenshot was taken at 11AM on a Tuesday to show how fast these attractions may sell out. Now, there is a possibility that you can get lucky and get a time. If you really want to ride an attraction, keep refreshing and you may get a return time pop up!

Magic Kingdom Disney Genie Plus Rides 2023

space-mountain-what-is-genie-+

Magic Kingdom has 22 attractions available with Disney Genie Plus. Magic Kingdom is the Disney park with the most attractions which means that it is typically the most crowded. Guests love to start their vacations at Magic Kingdom since there is so much to do and it is the first Walt Disney World park that opened in 1981. Magic Kingdom Genie rides include the following:

  • Haunted Mansion
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Splash Mountain
  • Space Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • The Barnstormer
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Notably, the most recent and still extremally popular ride, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is not included in this list. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is not one of the rides included in genie plus, more on this below. Many guests may choose to spend 2 days in Magic Kingdom, if this is the case, you may not need Genie+ at all or especially not for both days since it should be enough time to get everything done you would like to. However, purchasing Disney Genie+ is all about preference. If you simply do not like to wait in lines then you are going to want to purchase it for every day of your trip.

How Many Rides Should I Expect to Ride with Genie Plus at Magic Kingdom?

With Genie+, how many rides you get on really depends on your planning, your pace and when you book your lightning lanes. You can get on at least 15 attractions in 1 day at Magic Kingdom by using Disney Genie. It also really depends on how busy the park is on the day of your visit. The most important piece of information you need to know about Genie+ is that you cannot book another lightning lane until you have either scanned into the next attraction or it has been 120 minutes since  you last booked, whichever comes first. Lets take a look at an example.

It’s 10am on Christmas Day, the busiest day of the year. You book a lightning lane for Space Mountain at 2pm because that is the next available time. At 12pm, you can book your next lightning lane which could be for either after 2pm or before 2pm for another popular attraction like Jungle Cruise. Now you have 2 popular attractions locked in at 12pm which is great! The point of this example is to show that if you rely on Genie+ and the other wait times in the park for the standby line are long then you most likely won’t be able to do all 22 attractions in one day. We don’t want anyone to have that expectation that you will get on 22 attractions with Genie+ in one day because you’re likely to be disappointed.

Best Rides to use Genie+ on at Magic Kingdom

The most popular rides on Genie Plus at Magic Kingdom are

  • Jungle Cruise
  • Space Mountain
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Haunted Mansion

This is because these rides usually have the longest wait times in the park for various reasons. Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the slowest loading attractions in all of Disney World so this line is always pretty long. The rest of the attractions at Magic Kingdom should be easier to get a lightning lane for. It is less likely that lightning lanes sell out in Magic Kingdom due to how many rides there are in this one park.

Low Priority Genie+ Rides at Magic Kingdom

Since there are so many rides and attractions at Magic Kingdom, using a lightning lane for all is nearly impossible on most days at this park. As a part of having a Genie+ strategy, you should have in mind which rides are low priority for your family as well as which rides are typically easier to get a lightning lane for or have shorter standby waits. Here are the list of rides that we personally would not select a lightning lane for in the first half of our day.

  • Dumbo
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
  • The Little Mermaid
  • Barnstormer
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic
  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

Of course, every family is different and if Dumbo is a priority then make that lightning lane! These are just recommendations from our experiences with using Genie+ to make the most out of your time and money.

Hollywood Studios Disney Genie Plus Rides

rock-n-rollercoaster-best-ride-disney-for-adults

Hollywood Studios has 14 attractions included in Genie+. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become one of the most popular Disney Parks to visit because of the new additions, Toy Story Land, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and the return of the night-time spectacular Fantasmic! Included in these 14 attractions is 5 shows and 9 rides. If you are only looking at rides, there are less than half here than at Magic Kingdom which means two things – there is less to do which means you can get on all the rides in one day but also the downside is that the lightning lanes are more likely to sell out. Here is the Genie+ list of all attractions included in Genie+ at Hollywood Studios.

  • Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
  • Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Star Tours
  • Tower of Terror
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
  • Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Alien Swirling Saucers
  • Muppet*Vision 3D
  • Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
  • Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage
  • Disney Junior — Live on Stage

The most popular ride in all of  Walt Disney World is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance which is not included in Genie+. We discuss Individual Lightning Lane Attractions below but if you don’t want to pay extra for this ride, you may consider rope dropping it especially if you have Genie+. This means that once the park opens, you head right to Rise of the Resistance to try to get on without having to spend even more money on a lightning lane for it.

How Many Rides Should I Expect to Ride with Genie Plus at Hollywood Studios?

With Genie Plus service, you should be able to get on at least 6 attractions our of the 14 offered. Hollywood Studios is the only park that we have experienced not being able to get a lightning lane for rides we wanted to ride because they were sold out. On less busy days, the rides may not sell out but you should expect rides like Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Slinky Dog Dash to sell out by 4pm.

Hollywood Studios is the most challenging park for Genie Plus attractions because there are only a handful of rides and all of the rides are extremally popular. The most difficult lightning lane to get here is Slinky Dog Dash which is why we recommend booking this attraction first at 7am.

Best Rides to use Genie+ on at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is the most challenging park for Genie Plus attractions because there are only a handful of rides and all of the rides are extremally popular. The most difficult lightning lane to get here is Slinky Dog Dash which is why we recommend booking this attraction first at 7am. Below is a list of rides we believe should be your priority for making Genie+ attraction selections.

  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Smugglers Run
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Tower of Terror
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Out of these rides, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster are the oldest attractions out of the 5 yet they are still extremally popular and equally as likely to sell out. Especially since these are the 2 “thrill” rides in the park. In our personal experience, we did not prioritize Smugglers Run and we ended up not getting a lightning lane for it later on in the day. If you are a big Star Wars fan, we recommend making this your second Genie+ pick here at Hollywood Studios.

Low Priority Genie+ Rides at Hollywood Studios

We recommend leaving the shows Muppet*Vision 3D, Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage, Disney Jr. Dance Party, Frozen Sing-Along, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular off your Genie+ attraction list unless it fits into your schedule.  This is because you are likely to get a seat at these shows just by arriving 15 minutes before the showtime. For example, once the rides we had left to go on sold out at our Genie+ day at Hollywood Studios, we got a lightning lane for Frozen Sing Along.

In terms of rides, we think the following should be low on your Genie+ priority list at Hollywood Studios.

  • Alien Swirling Saucers
  • Star Tours

It is not a guarantee that these rides will not sell out of lightning lanes but they are more likely to sell out last since the other rides in the park are more popular. After you check off the rides on the high priority list we suggest trying to get a lightning lane for Toy Story Mania. This line is usually long but the lightning lanes do not sell out as fast, you should be able to get one for this attraction in the afternoon.

Animal Kingdom Disney Genie Plus Rides

new-rides-animal-kingdom

Animal Kingdom has 11 attractions that guests can experience with Disney Genie+. 4 out of the 11 attractions are shows with scheduled times where the lightning lane will guarantee you seating at the show. Below is a list of all attractions at Animal Kingdom included in Genie+.

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Expedition Everest
  • Festival of the Lion King
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Feathered Friends in Flight!
  • DINOSAUR
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug
  • Na’vi River Journey
  • The Animation Experience
  • Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond

Best Rides to use Genie+ on at Animal Kingdom

There are 5 attractions that are the most popular at Animal Kingdom and we suggest to use the Genie on these first thing in the morning. Then you can spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Animal Kingdom because this park has a lot to offer beyond the rides! The best rides to use Genie+ on are

  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Na’vi River Journey
  • Expedition Everest
  • Kali River Rapids (water ride, popular on hot days)
  • DINOSAUR

The Genie Plus Rides list for Animal Kingdom is the shortest because there is the least amount of rides in this park. We recommend grabbing a lightning lane for Kilimanjaro Safaris and Na’vi River Journey first. The Safari is one of the best attractions in all of Walt Disney World and is something that guests will not want to miss. You do not necessarily have to make the Safari the first pick of the day but keep in mind that this is a popular attraction. Lightning lanes are also not as likely to sell out in this park because of the lower attendance.

Low Priority Genie+ Rides at Animal Kingdom

As we mentioned above the shows would be the low priority attractions here since the lightning lane just reserves your seat for the show. The other attraction low on the list is “It’s Tough to be a Bug.” This attraction usually has a short wait time and is less popular than shows like Festival of the Lion King.

  • Festival of the Lion King
  • Feathered Friends in Flight!
  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug
  • The Animation Experience
  • Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond

Out of these low priority attractions, The Festival of the Lion King is the most popular and in or opinion, the best show to see in Animal Kingdom. Visiting Animal Kingdom using Genie+ is an enjoyable experience because you should be able to get done everything you want to do by 2 PM and either park hop or spend the rest of the day enjoying the beautiful park.

Genie Plus Rides EPCOT

rides-for-epcot-early-theme-park-entry

EPCOT is a park that many people often debate to purchase Genie+ for since there are only a handful of attractions that are more popular and with how much World Showcase has to offer, guests may choose to spend their time exploring the countries rather than taking a ride with Figment. With the new additions to EPCOT, this park has more to offer for kids and adults than ever before. If you choose to purchase Genie+ for this park, here are the attractions that are included.

  • Spaceship Earth
  • Soarin’
  • Living With the Land
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Test Track
  • Journey Into Imagination with Figment
  • Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
  • Turtle Talk with Crush
  • The Seas with Nemo and Friends
  • Mission: SPACE
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Best Rides to use Genie+ on at EPCOT

The most popular genie attractions at EPCOT are Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, and Test Track. We recommend getting your first lightning lane for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and “rope dropping” Test Track. This means that at 7am, you will book your first attraction for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure then head to Test Track when the park opens to ride that with a shorter wait time. It is important to remember that after 120 minutes or once you scan into the attraction, you can book your next lightning lane ride. If you stay on top of this, you will be able to get the most lightning lanes for your day in the parks. The best rides to use Genie+ on are as follows

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Test Track
  • Soarin’

Soarin’ would be at the bottom of our priority list because the first 3 are the more popular attractions. We recommend trying to get a lightning lane for Soarin’ after these though because it still is a very popular attraction and a fan favorite. The attraction that most likely to sell out is typically Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure because it is new and a great ride for kids as well as Test Track which is arguably the most popular ride in the park,

Low Priority Genie+ Rides at EPCOT

  • The Seas With Nemo & Friends
  • Mission: SPACE
  • Spaceship Earth
  • Journey Into Imagination with Figment
  • The Film Festival
  • Living With The Land
  • Turtle Talk with Crush

These are the rest of the rides in EPCOT. You can typically just pick and choose which you would like to ride and the ones that fit your schedule and priorities as they are less likely to sell out of lightning lanes. The two rides we would keep an eye out for is The Seas with Nemo and Friends since it is a great ride for kids which can make the wait longer and Spaceship Earth since it is the first ride when you enter the park people typically tend to hop on this ride first.

All About Individual Attraction Selection

star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-boarding-group

Individual Lightning Lane is a paid feature of Disney Genie+ which allows you to purchase a spot in the Lightning Lane for only one attraction that is not included on the Disney Genie plus rides list.

Here is a list of genie plus rides NOT included in Genie plus that you will have to pay additional fees for their Individual Lightning Lanes.

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – Magic Kingdom
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – EPCOT
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Hollywood Studios
  • Avatar Flight of Passage – Animal Kingdom

It is important to note that you do not need the Disney Genie+ service if you wish to just purchase these 4 pay-per-ride attractions separately.

What Rides are not Included in Disney Genie Plus?

EPCOT-individual-lightning-lane

There are many Disney genie rides included in the new Genie service but there are some that are not. The most popular ride in each park is NOT included in the Disney Genie+ but they are available for lightning lane purchase for an additional fee (pay per ride). The rides not included in Disney Genie Plus are:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Tron Lightcycle / Run
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Avatar Flight of Passage.

Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the brand new Tron Lightcycle / Run has a virtual queue which is a free alternative than purchasing the Individual Lightning Lane for this ride. Each ride besides Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind offer regular standby lines or that additional fee option called Individual Attraction Selection. Additionally we do find that many of the new rides at Disney World are typically not added to the Disney Genie+ ride list right away.

For the rides not included in Genie+ you could purchase the individual lightning lane for them which would run you from $15-20 more per person. If you do not want to pay this extra money, we recommend “rope dropping” these rides. A morning would look like this if you choose not to purchase an individual lightning lane:

Example Morning at Hollywood Studios

7:00AM – Purchase Disney Genie+ and grab a lightning lane for Slinky Dog Dash

8:15AM – Arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for 9AM opening.

9:00AM – Scan your Disney ticket into the park and head right to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

You should get on Rise of the Resistance within the hour and then to your Slinky Dog Dash lightning lane!
