How Many Attractions Can I Choose in Lightning Lane Multipass?

lightning-lane-multi-pass

Unlike the Genie+, you can now choose three different attractions up to a week in advance to skip the line each day of your visit. With the Disney World Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, attractions are split into tiers which is different from the Lightning Lane Single Pass. When making your selections, you can only choose one ride from Tier 1, and the other two attractions have to be from Tier 2. But if any of the rides in Tier 1 aren’t appealing, you can choose all three selections from Tier 2. Once you redeem your first return time, you can select an additional Multi-Pass experience at the park you’re currently in. Or, if you have a Park Hopper Pass, you can now start selecting attractions at the park you’re visiting later in the day. While you can continue to add additional return times, you can only hold up to three Disney World Multi Passes at any given time.

Modify Your Attraction Return Time

The reason we recommend booking your new return time the moment you’ve scanned your first is that you can now modify return times. So, no matter if it’s a ride that’s not on your ‘must-do list,’ selecting that return time gives you the option to modify it to a different ride later on in the day if new return times drop!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass vs Lightning Lane Single Pass

As discussed above, there are now two different Lightning Lanes systems. While the Lightning Lane Single Pass will let you make a reservation to skip the line on only one attraction at a time (up to two per day), the Multi-Pass will allow you to skip the line on multiple attractions for one set price. The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass both help guests save time and money for some of the park’s most popular attractions.

What are the Main Differences Between Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass?

There are two main differences between these two skip-the-line passes: price and number of rides.

Lightning Lane Multi-Pass:

Not only will the Multi-Pass system help you enjoy more rides, it will save you time and money in the long run. Less time spent waiting in line is giving you more bang for your buck out of the price of your ticket. In comparison to the Single Pass option, the Multi-Pass will allow you to ride 10+ rides without having to wait in the normal queue. Leaving you with more time to enjoy other activities throughout the park! Our ideal plan would be to purchase the Multi-Pass once your booking window opens and make your first selection 30 minutes after the park opens. That way, you can first ride the attraction that offers the Single Pass first thing in the morning! Getting that popular attraction out of the way while also saving money.

Lightning Lane Single Pass:

While the Single Pass tends to be the cheaper option, it only allows you to ride a single ride. If you’re familiar with the foregone Disney Genie+, this system replaced the Individual Lightning Lane option, but it is still generally the same. If you’re looking to skip the line on any of the popular rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you’ll need to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass. Typically, the Single Passes are priced at around $15 and will allow you to enjoy that attraction one time through the Lightning Lane. This option is great for guests looking to maximize their time in the parks but still enjoy some of the best and most popular attractions at Disney World.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass Prices

The new Disney World Multi-Pass system is an improvement from the previous Genie+. But one thing we dislike about it is that it still utilizes dynamic pricing. This means that the price will fluctuate based on the time of year you visit and Disney’s projected crowd levels. But on the plus side, you can now see exactly how much the pass will be in advance! On the Disney World App, you’re able to look at how much the Disney World Multi Pass and Single Pass will be up to three weeks ahead of time. You can also now purchase the pass for your entire stay up to 14 days once your booking window opens. This is a huge improvement when it comes to planning out your Disney World Vacation! If you’re looking to find the cheapest time to purchase Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass, take a look at our crowd calendar! Lower crowds mean lower prices for both of the Lightning Lane passes.

This answer depends on whether you’re staying at a Disney resort hotel or not! For guests staying at an official Disney resort hotel or a Good Neighbor hotel, you can book your Lightning Lane Multi Pass for your entire visit 7 days before the first day of your visit! That means if your ticket is valid for 14 days, you could potentially book your passes three weeks in advance! However, if you’re staying at any other hotel or if you’re an Annual Pass Holder, you can only purchase and choose your Multi-Pass selections three days before the first day of your visit.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass Booking Windows

  • Disney World Resort Hotel Guests: 7 days before the first day of your visit at 7 a.m. EST
  • Guests Not Staying at a Disney Resort Hotel: 3 days before the first day of your visit at 7 a.m. EST
  • International Guests outside of the USA and Canada: 3 days before the first day of your visit at 7 a.m. EST even if you’re staying at an official Disney Resort Hotel.

It’s important to remember that all sales and selections open at 7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time! So, no matter where you are in the world, double-check your time difference so that you can be among the first to grab the selections you want the most!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When Can Disney Resort Hotel Guests Purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass

A: Disney Resort and affiliated hotel guests can purchase their Lightning Lane Multi Pass and select their attraction return times 7 days before the day of their first visit. For example, if you’re first visit is on the 14th of the month, you can purchase and begin making your selections on the 7th at 7 a.m. EST.

Q: When Can You Buy Lightning Lane Multi-Pass if Staying Off-Site

A: If you’re not staying at a Disney Resort or Good Neighbor hotel, your purchase window will open 3 days before the day of your first park visit at 7 a.m. EST. This is also for anyone who holds an Annual Pass or any type of promotional ticket as well without a hotel stay. If riding certain attractions is important to you, we recommend taking a look at Discount Disney World Vacation Packages to get the upper hand when selecting return times! We have seen attractions such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Slinky Dog Dash completely sell out before the three-day mark!

Q: When Can International Guests Buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass

A: Unfortunately, guests outside of the U.S. and Canada are not able to take advantage of the 7-day booking window even if you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. We aren’t sure why this is, but if you live anywhere outside of the United States or Canada, you can only purchase your Lightning Lane Multi Pass three days in advance, even if you’re staying on-site. While there are some workarounds you can try with location settings on your phone and in the My Disney Experience App, nothing has been approved or changed by Disney to fix this issue.

Q: Can I still refresh the app to load new return times with Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

A: Yes, you can still reload your selection screen to bring up the latest return times in the My Disney Experience App as you could with FastPass+ and the Disney Genie+. But now it’s so much easier! The new version of Lightning Lane has a ‘Modify’ button, so you no longer have to cancel your current return time to select a new one. If you want to refresh the return time options, simply toggle back and forth between the ‘Modify’ and ‘Close’ buttons to refresh your options.

Q: Is there an additional fee for park hopping?

A: No, there is no longer an additional fee for those with the park hopper ticket option. To make a return time using the Disney World Lightning Lane Multi Pass at another park, you must scan into your first return time at your starting park. This is to prevent guests from taking advantage of cheaper Lightning Lane Multi Pass rates.

Q: What attractions book up before the 3-day booking window?

A: Yes! Many of the popular attractions will book up before guests staying off-site, or Annual Pass Holders can purchase the pass and make their selections. Some of the most notable attractions with no reservations left are Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Slinky Dog Dash. While attractions like The Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Frozen Ever After have very limited options.

Q: Can I use a Lightning Lane to meet characters?

A: No, Disney has removed all Lightning Lane experiences from character meet-and-greets. This is for both the Multi Pass and the Single Pass system. This may change in the future, so be sure to check back with The Park Prodigy for the latest details!
