What Are The Lightning Lane Multi-Pass Tiers?

This article is your complete guide to understanding the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass tiers at Disney World. I’m also going to provide the average wait times through 2025 to help you prioritize which lightning lanes you should select first. The most important thing to understand when booking Lightning Lane tiers in Disney World is that guests can book one ride from tier one and two rides from tier two when selecting their initial three rides. The main exception to this is Animal Kingdom park, which does not have tier one rides, and you will select all three from tier two.

How Do The Multi-Pass Lightning Lane Tiers Work?

Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass operates on a two-tier system. Tier one includes the most popular attractions with the longest wait times, while tier two contains all other participating rides.

When purchasing a Multi Pass for any of the four theme parks, you’ll select three experiences with arrival windows. At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios, you can choose one ride from tier one and two from tier two (or all three from tier two). Animal Kingdom is the exception—all three selections must come from tier two.

Once in the park, after redeeming your first experience, you can add your next selection from either tier. Park hoppers can begin selecting attractions for parks they plan to visit later in the day at this point. However, you can only hold three arrival windows at any given time.

Lightning Lane Multi-Pass Tiers FAQ

Q: Can I Select a Lightning Lane from Tier 1 as my Additional Selection at Disney World?

A: Yes! After you redeem your first return time of the day, you can select another attraction in the Muli Pass system from either tier. The only issue is having availability for the rides in tier one. Since this tier is the one reserved for the more popular rides with longer wait times, they tend to sell out well in advance.

Q: Can I Change my Lightning Lane Selection?

A: Yes! With this version of Disney Lightning Lane, you can modify your return times within the app without canceling your current return time. There is a new ‘modify’ tab where you can easily see what selections and times are available. So, if you’re trying for a specific ride and don’t see one just yet, keep refreshing the modify button and see if any other return times drop throughout the day.

Q: Does Lightning Lane Multi Pass Sell Out?

A: It has the potential to sell out. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to! The only pass you should worry about selling out is the Lightning Lane Single Pass. Those will typically sell out early on, so it’s important to book it as soon as your booking window opens!
