Hotels and Travel Epic Universe Vacation Budgeting

ministry-of-magic-epic

Epic Universe will have three dedicated hotels at Universal Orlando Resort. The more budget-friendly prime value options are Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort, and the signature option is Universal Helios Grand Hotel. To plan the most EPIC Universal vacation, we are going to budget only these three hotels below. But keep in mind that the Universal Orlando Resort has eight other Universal hotels to choose from starting at $99 and can go up to as high as $500. If you’re on a budget, we would recommend staying at a Value Resort like one of the Endless Summer hotels to keep costs down. There are also value family-friendly options like Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which is always a win for big families who want to visit Volcano Bay.

By staying at an official Universal Orlando Resort Hotel, you also will be saving on transportation since all 11 Universal hotels provide complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the Universal theme parks!

Universal’s Epic Universe Hotel Costs

  • Universal Terra Luna Resort – Starting at $134 a night
  • Universal Stella Nova Resort – Starting at $134 a night
  • Universal Helios Grand Hotel – Starting at $400 /night

If you’re planning a longer stay, the more expensive your trip will be. To save some money while you visit during the opening of Epic Universe, we recommend doing a split stay! This is where you stay at two or more hotels during one trip, like staying at the Universal Helios Grand Hotel for 4 nights and then moving to a less expensive hotel like Surfside Inn for the remainder of your vacation.

Budgeting for Food and Dining

There are a lot of dining options at Universal Orlando Resort, from easy on-the-go quick-service meals to full-service restaurants in the park and Universal CityWalk. We recommend budgeting approximately $20-$40 per person per meal to prepare for a mix of dining options and an additional $25 per person per day for snacks and drinks. To keep this cost down, we always tell our clients to take advantage and save using the Universal refillable cup! When visiting Universal Epic Universe specifically, we suggest stopping to get a new Butterbeer crepe at the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic or an ice cream at Frosty Moon in Celestial Park.

Merchandise and Souvenirs

With exciting new lands like How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Universal’s Dark Universe, and Celestial Park, you’re going to want to take home a few things! From themed apparel to collectibles, merchandise expenses can vary widely. But we like to set a budget of $100 to $300 for souvenirs. This ensures you can bring home a piece of the magic without going wild. The most popular item from Epic Universe so far is the Nintendo World Power-Up Bands since they are interactive throughout the new land!

Travel and Miscellaneous

Your travel expenses should be considered in your budget. This is hard for us to price out since we have clients traveling to Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World from around the globe! The cost of travel to Orlando, whether by plane, train, or car, and any associated rental car or parking fees should be considered in your budget. Additionally, plan for miscellaneous expenses such as locker rentals or Universal Orlando photo packages.

It also may save some money to look into a Universal Orlando Annual Pass if you’re visiting for a longer period or plan to visit more than once per calendar year! There are many Passholder perks like park-to-park access, free parking, options to purchase tickets to openings or events before the general public, as well as food and merchandise discounts! As Universal Orlando Annual Passholders, you also will receive discounted rates on Universal Orlando Hotels (Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, and Royal Pacific) that include the Universal Express Passes (excludes Universal Epic Universe). However, keep in mind the annual pass does not include Epic Universe yet and separate theme park admission is required.
