We are going to start with the most common question: exactly how to get on Star Wars Rise of the Resistance? There are two ways (*with one exception read below) to get on Star Wars Rise of the Resistance right now which are to stand in the regular standby queue or upgrade to the Disney Genie+ premium selection. If you’re trying to figure out the best way to get on Rise of the Resistance we will always lean towards the Disney Genie+ lighting lane option as it is a premium product that will allow you to wait in a shorter line. Of course, as you’ll see there can still be a game plan for trying to pick the best time to ride Rise of the Resistance if you do decide to wait in the regular queue.

One of the reasons why so many people are trying to plan the best way to ride this attraction is the hype around Star Wars Rise of the Resistance was insane from the minute Imagineers announced Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Disney knew their newest attraction was going to be one of the hottest rides in all of Walt Disney World and planned accordingly to manage the crowds and avoid long wait times. In response, there are a few ways that Disney has been managing the crowds and a few options when trying to figure out how to ride Rise of the Resistance at Disney World. 

How to ride Rise of the Resistance in 2024?

What is the fastest way to Rise of the Resistance?

If you plan to rope drop Rise of the Resistance you might be wondering, what is the fastest way to Rise of the Resistance? As a general rule of thumb, we recommend making a left once guests pass Hollywood Boulevard and walk towards the Muppets section of Hollywood Studios. Here guests can enter the quickest Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge entrance.

Is Rise of the Resistance worth a 2-hour wait?

As a general rule of thumb, we do find Star Wars Rise of the Resistance to be worth a 2-hour wait especially if you are a Star Wars fan. And on the flip side, one of the reasons we would say it is worth such a long wait is even if you are not a Star Wars fan we simply don’t speak with many guests who do not enjoy this ride. It’s one of the newest and most technologically advanced rides in all of Walt Disney World now and simply a must-do during your next Disney World trip.

Is there a Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance?

Yes, there is a virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but it is exclusively available during the special event known as Disney Jollywood Nights. This event is a separate-ticket occasion happening on select nights during the holiday season.

For guests attending Disney Jollywood Nights, access to the Rise of the Resistance attraction is managed through a virtual queue, which can be accessed using the My Disney Experience app. It’s important to note that there will be no standby queue available for this attraction during the event. Guests can join this virtual queue once per event night, starting at 8:00 PM.

To be eligible to join the virtual queue, guests must have their specific event tickets linked to their My Disney Experience account. Notably, guests do not need to be physically present inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios when they request to join the virtual queue. This virtual queue system is only operational on the event day a guest is attending.

Can You Wait In Line For Rise of the Resistance?

Does Rise of the Resistance have a standby line? And yes, Star Wars Rise of the Resistance does have a standby line that guests can take advantage of for free. The main reason why this question comes up so much is Star Wars Rise of the Resistance used to manage attendance using a virtual line that guests would have to join using the My Disney Experience App. One of the biggest downfalls to this system was that it was not guaranteed that guests would be able to join the virtual queue making it extremely difficult when trying to figure out how to get on Rise of the Resistance.

However, that system is no longer in place and there is a standby line for Rise of the Resistance. Of course, now guests are trying to figure out when is the best time to join the standby line for the ride, and they might be asking if should we rope drop Rise of the Resistance. , or possibly wait until later in the day? We would say it all depends if you plan to be one of the first guests in the park then we would always suggest rope drop however as you’ll see below you also always have the option to upgrade to the Star Wars Rise of the Resistance lightning lane.

What is the Fastest Way to Get on Rise of the Resistance?

As a general rule of thumb, the fastest way to ride Rise of the Resistance will almost always be to use one of the Disney Genie individual lightning lanes. The main reason why this is the fastest way onto Rise of the Resistance is that this is a premium upgrade and will cost between $15-$17 per person. We also find that guests looking for the fastest free way to get onto Rise of the Resistance quickly consider rope-dropping Hollywood Studios. 

As a last resort if both of the options mentioned above do not work for you then we do find that wait times for Rise of the Resistance do tend to be less later on in the day after 5:00 PM. With that being said it’s not the quickest way onto the ride but in general it can still have a shorter wait time then during the middle of the day.

How to Get Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance?

How to get lightning lane Rise of the Resistance? And the easiest way to get the lightning lane for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance is by staying at a Disney World hotel during your vacation. The main reason is Disney releases Rise of the Resistance Genie Plus selections to on-site resort guests at 7:00 AM, and then for regular park guests at park opening. Rise of the Resistance lightning lane selections can also sell out so you really want to be some of the firsts guests who can select their premium Genie+ selection for Rise of the Resistance.

How Do You Get the Rise of the Resistance Lightning Lane in 2024?

All you need to get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding lightning lane selection is your smartphone with the My Disney Experience app downloaded and your party’s Disney Hollywood Studios ticket reservation connected to your My Disney Experience account!
