No, you do not need reservations to enter the Universal Orlando theme parks. This means that Universal Studios park reservations are not a standard requirement for general park entry, but all guests do need valid theme park admission (a ticket!) to the park
However, it’s important to remember that during exceptionally busy periods, such as major holidays or special events, the park might reach capacity. So, we recommend planning your trip as soon as you can to make sure you’re getting the most out of your vacation!
You may need reservations to try some of the restaurants in the parks, but even most restaurants are quick-service. That means you don’t have to make a reservation and can walk right in as long as you have a ticket.
No, you do not need to reserve your spot at Universal’s Volcano Bay. Like the theme parks, simply purchase your ticket, and you’re good to go! If you’ve never been to Volcano Bay, we highly recommend checking out our complete guide, as it’s an extremely different experience to the parks! To ensure a smooth visit, arriving early is an excellent strategy. By doing so, you can not only claim a spot on the beachfront but also maximize your time enjoying the water rides and getting used to the TapuTapu system.
Right now, all you need is a valid ticket when you go to visit Epic Universe. When the park opens May 22nd, 2025, guest will start jumping through the portals without reservations required. When you purchase your tickets, you will have to pick a start date for your first day in the parks. Universal gives guests a window of time to visit the park from your start date.
For now, anyone who purchases tickets to Epic Universe will not have the option to purchase a single-day ticket. Guests must purchase a multi-day Orlando ticket package with a minimum of three days. This package will only allow guests one day at Epic Universe and will not allow park hopping to or from the new theme park. We are not sure how Universal is going to handle Annual Passholders for Epic Universe and if they will require reservations.
When the land does open, we could see a similar reservation system as we did when the land opened at Universal Hollywood. While Universal reservations were not required to enter the park, they were required to enter Super Nintendo land. So it’s important when planning your Universal Orlando 2025 vacation to stay up to date on Universal Orlando reservation details as they roll out.
