The Disney World base ticket is the perfect ticket for families who prefer to take their time while exploring one theme park per day. We also find it to be the best fit for families traveling with small children as park hopping at Disney can be a lot more work when compared to Universal Orlando. Guests who buy the base ticket will not have to worry about getting on transportation with strollers in the middle of the day to go visit another Disney park. And from our experience visiting the Disney World theme parks, it can take 30-45 minutes just to park hop to another Disney park.
As a general rule of thumb, the WDW base tickets are always going to be the cheapest Disney World ticket options when compared to the park hopper tickets.
It’s important to note that not all of the four Walt Disney World theme parks have the same operating schedule with some parks closing earlier than others. This is especially true for Animal Kingdom which might close two to three hours earlier than the other Disney World parks, and the base ticket would not allow guests to park hop over to one of the other Disney World parks. However, this might not be the biggest deal to some families. Especially families simply shopping for the cheapest tickets to Walt Disney World.
The Disney World park hopper ticket is the perfect fit for families who want the ultimate flexibility within their day to visit more than one Disney theme park. For this reason, we find it to be the perfect ticket for families with older kids and teens who would like to enjoy longer days in the parks. We also find it to be a good fit for families with young children who want to spend more than one day in the Magic Kingdom. We typically recommend splitting your second Magic Kingdom day with EPCOT if that is your goal while shopping for cheap tickets to Disney World.
As a general rule of thumb, the Disney World park hopper ticket is always going to be more expensive than the base ticket. We also are not huge fans of the fact that guests cannot park hop over to one of the other Disney World theme parks until after 2:00 PM with the new system.

All multi-day Disney World tickets come with expiration windows ranging from 2-10 days from the selected start date. However you do not have to use your first day in the parks on the first day of your start window. The most important thing is when you make those Disney World park reservations.
So if you are planning to visit Disney World for two days on a Monday and Wednesday you have flexibility on your start date. If tickets starting on that Sunday are cheaper you can purchase those tickets. The most important thing is to make sure you use up all of your days within the validity window.
