This article is your complete guide to Halloween Horror Nights Early Entry in 2026! There are currently three ways to have early entry to a Halloween Horror Nights event. The three ways are attending the parks using a Universal Orlando regular admission ticket to Universal Studios Florida, a Universal Orlando annual pass, or a Universal Scream Early ticket. It’s important to note that your regular admission ticket and the stay and scream ticket must be valid for the exact date you plan to visit HHN. However, by being in the parks before your HHN event starts, you can access the holding areas, which will give you early entry once the event does begin.

For years, Halloween Horror Nights early entry meant getting funneled into a designated “holding area” inside the park — Finnegan’s, Springfield USA, or Diagon Alley — where you’d wait, sometimes for over an hour, until Universal opened the gates to the event itself.
That system is gone. Starting in 2025, Universal replaced the fixed holding areas with a free-roaming, wristband-based format. Instead of standing in a pen, eligible guests wear a wristband and can move freely around Universal Studios Florida during the transition window. For 2026, Universal took it a step further: instead of just waiting around, guests with early access can actually walk through select haunted houses starting at 2:00 PM — a full four and a half hours before the event’s official 6:30 PM start.
If you haven’t done Halloween Horror Nights since before 2025, this is the single most important thing to know before you go.
In our opinion, this is one of the best strategies for families who are trying to see every HHN haunted house but do not plan to upgrade to the HHN express pass or RIP tour.

You can purchase both a Universal Day Park admission ticket and an event ticket. If you have a valid single-day or multi-day ticket to Universal Studios Florida for the same date as your Halloween Horror Nights ticket, you automatically qualify for Stay & Scream. There’s nothing extra to buy and nothing to reserve in advance — your existing admission does the work.
If you are a Universal Orlando Annual Passholder, Halloween Horror Nights Annual Pass Early Admission is pretty simple. So long as you enter the park on the day that you have your HHN ticket and stay in the park after it closes to regular-day guests, you’ll be able to access Halloween Horror Nights with the other early event guests. Like day guests with tickets for Halloween Horror Nights, it’s that easy to get a Halloween Horror Nights pass holder early access.
You will still need to purchase a Halloween Horror Nights ticket beforehand, but holding your pass allows you to stay for the fun and enjoy HHN early entry.
If you don’t have daytime park admission or a pass for that day, you can add on a Scream Early ticket, priced at $70 to $75 per person depending on the date (weekday nights tend to sit at the lower end; Saturdays and select Fridays and Sundays run higher). This is the option for guests who only plan to attend the event itself and don’t want to pay for a full day in the parks.
Pro tip: Because Scream Early is priced by date the same way HHN tickets are, buying earlier in the season is almost always cheaper than waiting until October.
If you’re only in Orlando for the event and have no interest in spending a full day in the theme parks, Scream Early is a strong value. You’re paying roughly the same as one HHN single-night ticket for a few extra hours that let you clear two or three houses with little to no wait.
If you already have a multi-day ticket or an annual pass, there’s no reason to buy Scream Early, you’re covered already, and the money is better spent on food, merchandise, or an Express Pass for a peak night.

Wristbands are what identify you as an early entry guest now that the physical holding areas are gone. For 2026, you can pick one up starting as early as park opening at Guest Services — a new option this year that lets early birds lock in their wristband before the crowds build. Two additional in-park pickup points open at 2:00 PM: near the Hogwarts Express platform at King’s Cross Station, and at Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. Grabbing your wristband from one of these spots the moment they open is one of the easiest wins of the day.
Here’s roughly how the afternoon unfolds:
Exact times can shift by a few minutes depending on the night, so it’s worth double-checking the schedule for your specific date once you’re closer to your visit.
Universal has confirmed that at least three haunted houses will be part of the 2:00 PM early opening in 2026: Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, and Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control — the house built around this year’s HHN 35 icons and the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares” theme. More houses are expected to join the lineup as the 5:15 PM window opens, though Universal hasn’t locked in the full early-access house list this far out.

It’s a standalone add-on for guests without daytime park admission, priced at $70 to $75 per person depending on the date, that grants access to Universal Studios Florida and select early-opening haunted houses starting at 2:00 PM.
Select houses open at 2:00 PM for guests with valid Stay & Scream eligibility, with additional houses joining at 5:15 PM ahead of the event’s official 6:30 PM start.
No — if you already hold daytime Universal Studios Florida admission or an annual pass valid for that date, you’re already eligible for Stay & Scream and don’t need to buy Scream Early on top of it.
